LAM! LAM! - ‘abend’ from come to bed (pay what you like!)
when i told my girlfriend this morning that i really wanted to write here more frequently i had no idea i’d be writing a post tonight. hell, i should be in bed making up for sleep donated to the hopscotch festival but as i went to turn off the computer for the evening i found out that LAM! LAM! had posted her unreleased album from 2008 on bandcamp.
LAM! LAM! is the solo project of betsy shane, more recently of pink flag (who played a great set at hopscotch thursday afternoon). i’m pretty sure my first time seeing LAM! LAM! was in early 2008 opening for samara lubelski at the nightlight. one girl, one electric guitar and one ipod* with backing tracks. betsy charmed the audience with her songs, confidence and dance routines and i made a note to keep an eye out for LAM! LAM! shows.
Unfortunately I’m not sure I made it to another LAM! LAM! show (oh, the haze of local shows, maybe with billy sugarfix at the cave?) and by the end of the year pink flag had taken betsy’s attention away from her solo project. fast foward to 2011 and LAM! LAM! has reemerged on facebook, twitter and bandcamp with the promise of LAM! LAM! 2.0 and rumors of a show on september 20th.
so let’s all get ready for LAM! LAM!’s return by devouring come to bed. and now that i’ve offered my advise about LAM! LAM! i’ll follow their advise and hit the hay…
* i’m generally not one for ipod backed performances but for some reason i’ve now seen two triangle artists pull it off (the other being a dude name crash that opened for city center and rapped over an ipod).
